  1. Sorry...can't be done.

A glasses Rx can be converted to a contact prescription, but not the other way around.

A -6.00 in a contact Rx could have been derived from many different combinations from the glasses Rx...so there is no way to know.

    EDIT ****

Our optometry student needs to study a bit more yet.

Your right eye could be a - 6.50 but could also be - 6.75 in glasses, but rounded off to -6.00 in the contact, because most brands don't have a -6.25...your glasses Rx could also have a -.025 or 0.50 or  0.75 or even 1.00 cylinder correction that doesn't show up in the contact Rx but was partly added into the spherical equivalent.

  2. Actually, it can be done.  Your right eye would have a prescription closest to (after rounding to the closest available prescription) -6.50, while the left eye would have a prescription closest to -6.00.

For the optician, the vertex conversion formula works the same way, except instead of using a positive vertex distance we will use a negative.  I only know this because I am currently taking my contact lens class.

*EDIT: asked my professor to make sure that I was not giving false information, turns out he works for Bausch and Lomb and agreed with me.  If not currently needing cylinder, they can get by without it in their glasses.  Also, the vertex conversion was correct to the nearest quarter diopter.
