  1. mexico car insurance

  2. if you have you permit you need the title just in case some stop you that is a proof that you are the owner, you don't have buy insurance that is except you, bring you credit card just in case drive license , and you are ready to go enjoy you vacation

  3. You got the auto permit online ... not just an old sticker on your windshield?  If you have a current permit they should have explained what to do at the border

You need a credit card, registration for the vehicle in your name (or notarized permission of the lien holder), drivers license, tourist visa and 40 some dollars.

That is for mainland Mexico - Baja and most of Sonora you don't need a permit.  You also don't need a permit for short trip along the border.

Get insurance - you don't want an accident without it

  4. the title and your id is all we ever take but my husband is mexican he does the talking when you go to the window for them to make copies put $20 in the middle of the papers thats what we do in and out in 10 minutes..  yea i forgot when I passed the car as a american I needed a credit card for the 250.00 deposit.

but not him.  Me personally I think it is a waste of money to get the mexican insurance. We had friends who purchased it and had accidents and they were s&^* out of luck the police never showed up.  If you already have the permit you can go and come across the border as much as you want until it expires so if you have that I would say you need nothing.  You dont have to stop at the border (where you get the permit) you can just keep going.  At the next check point if you have the permit they will just wave you thru.
