Can someone legally take your video that is on youtube without your permission.?

I put a video on youtube and saw it on multiple sites. Can I get royalties or sue or anything like that?

  1. Its nothing wrong with downloading your video, it will only become illegal if that individual attempts to distribute the video.

You put it on youtube, that does not mean you gave up rights in toto, but you did implicitly allow for public display.  If another site links to the video (embed) that's perfectly fine.  If any site charges a fee to see the same video, or uses it in a promotion without your permission, you can order them to cease and desist.

    You're not going to be making money off it however.

  6. You chose to put it on a public website like youtube, so you gave up any rights to the video by anyone using it.  Next time, place it on a website where someone can't import it/paste it or save it to their own computers.  No easy buck to make on this question, my friend.

  7. I could be wrong but youtube is a public forum, so anything posted is fair game. Maybe.
