  1. artifacts?!  You mean like valuable, irreplaceable items?!  I don't throw those away!

Mine would contain plastic wrappers and bags, meat trays, bits of chicken or meat skin or fat, dental floss, broken glass, worn-out T-shirts after using to polish shoes or spread paint, empty toothpaste tubes... not much else.

Everything else gets recycled: paper, plastic, glass and metal.  Non-fat food scraps get composted (coffee and filters, egg shells, skin of veggies, that sort of thing).

  2. What you find in my trash - not much - we recycle most things, and compost most others.  I guess, what you'd find in my trash, are lids to containers that the recycling center doesn't take.

For my hubby and myself, we usually only have 1 to 1.5, 13 gal. bags of trash a week.  Everything else we recycle or compost.

  3. I guess it depends on what you throw away. You know what they say, " one man's trash is another man's treasure.". My husband used to be a garbage man and you probably wouldn't believe what rich people throw away.
