As 'stage" said the battle for little round top by Chamberlain and the 20th Maine was perhaps the turning point in the battle for Gettysburg they charge the Rebels with bayonets and fought hand to hand because they were critically short of ammo.

It would be the best to quote this "battle" for your paper as it stopped the union army being flanked and saved the day.

The main battle for Gettysburg was "Pickett's Charge" on the last days they didn't all get close enough to use bayonets and suffered horrendous losses to Union canon and musket fire
