Question:

Can someone offer ideas for all-inclusive vacations for my 11 year old daughter and I?

I'm trying to come up with ideas for a reasonably priced vacation for myself and my 11 year old daughter. We will have about 10 days in July and I'd like to keep the whole thing under $2500, including air from NYC or Philadelphia area.

The problem I'm running into, because it's going to be just me and her, is that I don't want to go somewhere that offers a "kids club", because I want her to feel encouraged to spend time with me, not with a bunch of kids she'll never see again. For this reason, most cruises and all inclusive resorts I've seen won't work. They seem to only provide activities for kids OR grownups...the main focus being on keeping the kids out of the parent's hair. This is NOT what I'm looking for. I'd like to find a place that encourages family time together. Any suggestions?

  1. Hawai!! Thailand! Kuwait! Anywhere!!!

  2. You're right, most of the cruise and resort options will offer the kid's club type of activities and you'll never see her! I remember when my dad took me on a cruise and all I wanted to do was hang out with the other kids. While its NOT all inclusive, you might consider doing a small European excursion. From the East Coast, you might not have to pay TOO much for airfare, and you can snag a couple of Eurail passes( not cheap, but worth it!) and see a few countries by train. My dad took me to Austria and Germany when I was in 3rd or 4th grade and we had a blast together. Lots of history, great food, wonderful culture. To this day i am very grateful that my dad took me on trips like that... I can't wait to do it with my own kids one day :)

Hope you guys have a BLAST wherever you go!!
