So I recently had an issue in my bank account which led me to find out that someone had been using my card on some internet accounts....but it was only for maybe 60 bucks a month here...or 25 bucks a month there (aol) and even one for 2 bucks a month....

I switched account numbers and cards and everything....but are they really going to do anything about this? I mean, what happens in most cases???

and what if this is someone in my family? (I have a couple problem family members)

  1. Your question is hard to answer.  You switched cards and account numbers, as long as they aren't trying to collect the money from you - don't worry.  If it is someone  in  your family....well, too bad for them. They screwed up.  If they have to pay, or go to jail, then maybe they won't do this kind of stuff again. They created their own problem.  No sympathy.

  2. Poor kid! You did the right thing changing your account # and card.

Now I dont care who it is do not show your card or acct.# to anyone ,even in your family. It sounds like a family member is doing this.

The bank did what it could by reissueing you a new acct. it is up to you to protect that acct. by not showing or giving it to ANYONE.

Good luck I hope this helps you.

  3. They are probably going to write it off. That is unless you want to pursue it. You better be careful about those bank debit cards. If they come after you for it then you better have filed all the challenges to it that you can before they come after you for the money.

  4. Yes they really do something about these. All banks have a fraud department for this reason. They will research where the transactions were made and trace it back.

They do not always catch these people but they will try.

If it is someone in your family you will have to make a decision to go after them or not. The bank will put charges against them.

  5. Its up to the banks asset protection department. They should investigate and see if they can trace who's stealing your money. There is so much of it going on out there. I doubt if they will get back with you. The bank should credit you the money you lost.
