Question

A boat weighs 1500 lb more than its motor and 1900 lb more than its trailer. Together the boat and the motor weigh five times as much as the trailer. How much does the boat weigh?

trailer is z

x +1500=y

x+1900=z

x + y = 5z

b + (b -- 1500) = 5(b -- 1900)

=> 3b = 8000

=> b = 8000/3 lb is the weight of boat
