he doesnt fight. he skates away from conflict. hes barely a pest anymore. he doesnt score. he doesnt draw penalties, because other players are used to him and think hes a joke. What exactly are we keeping him around for?

  1. he is a pest... hes an agitator and for the price hes getting paid hes worth it... i think hes makin between .5 and .75 mill a year...

    hes worth the price.

  2. I think he only remains on the team because the Wings only had 2 true left wings on their roster last year lol.  I'm thinking he is going to see a lot less ice time this year with the addition of Hossa and the quickly improving young talent pool.  The Grind Line is slowly fading into the fog of memory :(

  3. To be a leader and a veteran. I agree, he doesn't do much on the ice anymore, and doesn't get much time, but I bet he helps the new kids out at practice.

  4. Kirk Maltby is a waste of space on the ice. He barely even plays, and he sucks with the small amout of ice time he gets.

  5. I have to admit I am beginning to feel the same. He is responsible defensively and he DOES draw penalties, but overall you are right. Mostly they keep him because he is good in the lockerroom. I suspect we'll see him start losing more and more ice time this year, though. There are too many roster spots and too many good players to fight over them.

  6. -He's the bread and butter of that franchise.

-Probably has a huge role with lockerroom chemistry.

-Gets garbage goals, dirty rebounds, which are eventually huge in regards to standings, points, etc.
