  1. Very similar.  Some descriptions would make them sound the same.  Psychology is on a smaller scale- one life at a time.

Sociology takes on many lives at once as they intersect in cities and states and groups.

  2. Psychology is the study of human behavior.  Sociology is the study of the behavior of groups of people.  Take psychology, it is much more interesting.

  3. According to WikiAnwsers, " Psychology examines more of the workings of the human mind, why persons think and behave as they do. Sociology tends to examine groups of persons (societies), communities, and nations. They might examine and discuss such things as folkways, mores, changes in populations, effects of events on entire communities, etc... So one way to look at it is that psychology is more about the individual or small group, and sociology is more about communities and larger groups of persons."

If you're looking for  little more detailed explanation, Wiki also provides some more in depth and interesting information on the subject.

I put the link for it at the bottom.

And to answer the question of which is easier. Personally, I would say Sociology. Psychology is basically a field based completely on theories. Which is mostly what you discuss. Even diagnosing mental illness is based on educated guesses. It lacks allot of concrete answers. Sociology is the same, but you at least have statistics and such to guide you.

At my high school Sociology is defiantly considered the easier class. Mainly they just discuss current events the whole time, whereas with psychology, you have Freudian theories, and mental disorders and diseases, plus their treatments.

    Hope this helps. =)

  4. ooh

    Psychology: Study of the MIND

Sociology: Study of PEOPLE (behaviors and that)

    They overlap sometimes

    I think?

  5. Psychology is yes, the study of the mind, so you'd be able to help people with what is bothering them. From terms of, marriage counseling to just helping out kids that are having tough times with their parents divorcing or boy/girl troubles. Something along those lines....

But sociology is the study of what people do and how they do it, typically the normal lifestyle. So you could go about with your day and just analyze what others are doing around you. And even socialize with people from time to time. Where as in psychology you'd have to help others with their problems, and also have to go along with your everyday problems. And sometimes if you don't help someone how they'd want to be helped then bad things could happen to you, because some people out there are just crazy like that.

In my opinion, I would say that you could get more out of psychology so if you ever end up in someone else's shoes then you'd know how to deal with it. But sociology is much easier, and I would assume less work.

It's all up to you now. :)

  6. soiciology is easier and more general...

  7. psychology is the study of the human mind

sociology is the study of human interactions and group behaviour

so psychology is in the mind and how people think and react based on those thoughts (and brain chemicals), while sociology is the study of how people interact and behave in groups...and doesn't delve into things like bipolar disorder and thought patterns.

both can be fascinating, but i prefer psychology, especially abnormal psych.
