Can someone please explain the exact method used for the desalination of seawater in Dubai?

the seawater is being cook/process with the R.O. method (Reverse Osmosis) this is done with subjecting the water with several types of acid/base chemicals and then filtering to get the desired level of acidity, salinity, dissolved particles, etc. in the water. which is in conjunction with the World Health standards and acceptable level.

I don't know exactly but I think they use a simple heat-based method. Seawater is heated to steam. The salt is left behind. The steam is captured and pumped out to be used. The problem with this method is it takes a huge amount of energy to produce the water.

Reverse osmosis is a useful technique but it is typically very slow so I'm not sure if it is applicable to large scale facilities.
