1) There is little wave, a he-wave who is bobbing up and down in the ocean off the shore, having a great time. All of a sudden, he realises he is going to crash into the shore. In this big wide ocean, he's now moving toward the shore, and he'll be annihilated.

"My God, what's going to happen to me?" he says, a sour and despairing look on this face.

Along comes a she-wave, bobbing up and down, having a great time. And she says to the he-wave, "Why are you so depressed?"

He says, "You don't understand. We're going to crash into the shore, and we'll be nothing."

She says, "You don't understand. We're not waves; we're part of the ocean."

2)learn how to die, and you'll learn how to live

  1. 1) elaborates the idea that we're one with the universe; the individual is nothing but collectively, more powerful.

    2.  How does one 'learn how to die'?  I don't buy that one.  I believe once you learn not to fear death, you begin to live.

  2. I love that story.

In the broader sense, it's obviously talking of not fearing death because in the end we just become part of everything...our bodies become part of the soil that gets eaten up the chain link of different animals.

But I also get the impression that the female wave is more care-free and shared that with the worrisome male wave. Although I think the roles can be easily reversed.

  3. We shouldnt be worried about dying but knowing that we all will at one point... we need to enjoy the time we have and if we are worried all the time, what kind of live will we live?  We are all part of God's creation and we need to be thankful and live.
