Can someone please explain this. Apparently clay courts are faster than the grass at wimbledon ?

Im sooo confused, they say Roland Garros is faster than the wimbledon court. How can this be ? I understand they`ve made wimby surface a lil slower, which i think is really stupid it doesnt make any friggin sense! Anyway is this true that the clay nowadays is faster than grass ?!

I seriously doubt that any clay courts are faster than grass courts.   Where did you get this?

It is impossible that grass courts are slower than clay court because even though if you play on a grass court u will have more speed than the clay court. the clay court will just slow you down because the court will decrease your speed unless your and excellent runner other than that will only slow your speed and u will lose stamina . so definently where u got that source from is totally a lie. i know i have play on all 4 courts and know wat they can do

They are just exaggerating. Their point is that the wimbledon grass courts are very slow compared to how they used to be. These days the US Open courts are faster.

There is less friction in grass than on clay so the ball sort of slides with higher speed. It sticks on clay and hence is slower but also bounces higher.

So clay courts are slower than grass courts

i don't really know, but i agree with you, itd be really stupid to make grass courts slower..... it would take away the magic that wimbledon has, the game would be totally different.-
