Can someone please explain to me Uyuni in Bolivia!?

Im looking at pictures on google and its insaNE! how did it form? and what am i looking at exactly? water on land? and there are like clouds on the ground so weird.

I just returned from a three week trip to Bolivia, which included four days traveling around the salt flats in Uyuni. The pictures you're seeing are of the salt flats - millions of years ago it use to be a sea, which has since dried out leaving only the salt.
