Can someone please explain to me the facination with Kimbo Slice?

I saw a few youtube thingies that didn't impress me, and watched him Vs and old awkward Mercer which again didnt impress me

So whats with the excitement over him? Is it because of a "youtube star" turned professional?

its like in basketball everyone loves streetball but 98% of streetballers cant cut it in nba. Same with slice everyone say him around the hood fighting in back yards and parking lots and that intrigues people. he is a straight up brawler thats what people love to see blood and broken dones. why do you think know one watches boxing NO KNOCKOUTS!!!!!!

If you look at the typical MMA athlete, you can see that there is no one like Kimbo. He looks like a thug, but is well spoken and respectful to the game, he's serious about training, and he's entertaining when he fights. He will either knock out his opponent, or get knocked out.  If he had started his career 10 years earlier, he would be a top ranked fighter.

I disagree with "Iron Jack". More than Whites are awed by his fighting skills. Everyone also loves The Rock, Jean-Claude Van-Damme, and Jet Li, so while these people are all really good I've yet to see them F*ck up someone's eye. Unlike Kimbo Slice!

Because he DOES pack a mean punch when he hits someone. And in fights, that's always fun to watch.

But I don't think his "reign" will live forever. Just put someone up against him that knows MMA submissions. Kimbo Slice will be toast...no pun intended.

To answer your question, yes, most of his hype is built because he went from psuedo-celebrity to proffesional fighter.

Of course the Youtube videos aren't going to be that great. They are of nobodies getting knocked out. Just check him out on the 31st on CBS.

The "old-awkward" Mercer you speak of was a proffesional boxer for how many years? In my opinion it was a good test for a first fight. If he couldn't take a boxer who was past his prime a bit, he certainly didn't belong. I don't know what happened in the Cantrell fight, I don't think anyone does, but he did recently beat Tank down pretty good. And no matter what anyone say, Tank was an actual test for Kimbo. tank has a ton of experience, even if he is almost as far gone as Mercer. You can't expect him to hop right in with Nog or AA, he WOULD get killed. But if he keeps training and applies himself, he could stand to be a real MMA star. Over all the years of training, other fighters bodies are well worn by the time they are Kimbos age. His body is probably in pretty decent shape comparatively, so he has the potential to be around for a long time, win or lose.

He looks like a big scary black man. Most of his fans are suburban white college pot heads , who look at him and go omg he looks scary and talks allot of sh*t Im sure he can fight. Kimbo just looks like a rapist on steroids and is a black stereotype and suburban people like that I guess.

ask ur sef why the **** is Tela Tequilla famous? their is no reason all she does is sleep with anything that walks, Kimbo looks impressive, he is physically strong, and thats all we have seen so far, we have yet to see him take a fight the distance we dont know **** about his ground gave ( if he has any)? but this is not the first time some big guy with little to no technique has come and made a **** load of money by fighting, their is Bob Sapp, Akiebono( sumo wrestler turned int mma, k1 fighter, i havent yet seen him win a fight), the whole point it amuses people just like a circuse, so people who dont have a intrest in mma, might just wan see kimbo kill some one
