Question:

Can someone please explain to me what "magnet spacers" under the gas pedal does?

I realize 1/4 inch spacers under the gas pedal will prevent a wide open throttle, but a "magnet spacer?" One way or another, who ever decided to do this isn't the brightest bulb in the pack.

  1. I think it was just to hold it onto the gas pedal and be the spacer.

  2. It being a magnet just keeps it from falling off. I guess that was what you were wanting to know.

  3. Magnets are used to hide the spacer. If a spacer is placed on the floor it can be easily seen. If you use a magnet and stick it to the bottom of the steel pedal it can't be seen unless someone sticks their head on the floor or reach under to check for it.

I'm sure this has gone on all year which makes the JGR Nationwide season in doubt.

I just wish they would have held off announcing this until after the Sprint cup cars were tested to see how many magnets were there.

  4. Probably another magnet on the opposite side of the firewall.  Its like trying to put two positive pole magnets together.  It doesn't work.  I'm willing to bet that's the way it worked. When they press the throttle the magnet on the other side of the firewall prevents the throttle from being fully depressed.

    Hmmm,,,???????

  5. I assume the magnet was used as a quick way to get the spacer in there. It would also be quick to remove. That is the only advance I can think of for the magnet spacer over a non-magnet one.

  6. The spacer was a magnet.

Simple, and effective as long as you don't get caught.

  7. You answered your own question.  I suppose they merely thought that they would go unnoticed and then could be quickly and easily removed.  I agree with your last statement also.
