Can someone please explain univesity to me?

so how do these majors work? i simply dont understand a thing...i just want an explanation on the whole subject situation like credits and all that stuff... im so lost.

  1. First you have to take General Education classes which are required by each university. Some schools have more choices than others, but many of these subjects may not even be applicable to your major. However, you must take them to get a degree. A bachelor's degree is usually 120 units, and about half of these are general ed. Most classes in the semester system (in US) are 3 credits. Some lab or more complicated classes may be worth more credits. These occupy most of your freshman and sophmore years.

    You must find out what classes are required for your major. If some of these can be taken early, do it. If not, usually in your junior year you must declare your major (and sometimes a minor) and start taking classes that make sense for that. Your remaining time in college you'll be taking specific classes for your major.
