I have loaded Norton Internet Security 2008 on my laptop and pc. On my laptop when I switch it on I get a message that my antivirus and spyway are out of date. I have done Live Update and this is not working. I have been on online chat with Norton who has updated the definitions and I am still getting this message from Norton.

When I go into Windows Security it tells me there that Anti Virus may be out of date and that my spyware is being protected my Windows Defender. I have clicked to Monitor the updates myself (as advised by Norton) and I still cannot update them.

Can someone advise what to do before the laptop goes through the window. Sorry for the long winded question.

By the way I loaded the same on the PC and thats working fine.

  1. i had the same issue. Make sure your not blocking the program somehow. I personally dont like Norton.

  2. Chuck it out the window & get an Apple..... No security needed, saving about £60 a year. Runs faster, as no irritating security updates & oh so much more stylish.

  3. your wireless router and or computer may have a firewall that is preventing a successful update message. Oh and um i don' t like norton either.

  4. Norton has a bad name, f ck it of and install avg and malwarebytes

  5. Norton sucks. By BitDiffender or Kaspersky. In my opinion they are the best right now  (i've tried them all lol)

  6. I'm afraid that you've bought one of the most over complicated & poorest performing programs in Norton. I would uninstall it, return it & get your money back (After all, it doesn't work) & then download & install AVG Free from http://free.grisoft.com - it's very good, completely free & works well.

  7. go to google and download this thing called threatfire.it is official

  8. sorry, dont care about computer software...last person to ask.

  9. THROW IT THROUGH THE WINDOW!!!!!

    THROW IT THROUGH THE WINDOW!!!!!

    THROW IT THROUGH THE WINDOW!!!!!

    THROW IT THROUGH THE WINDOW!!!!!

    THROW IT THROUGH THE WINDOW!!!!!

    You know you want to!!!

  10. Try unblocking it. if that doesn't work, install AVG Free v8.0. but first you'll have to get rid of it!

  11. i run norton .

if you have an older version of norton on your pc,you have to remove it as 2 norton programs "clash".

clean all traces of norton off of your PC then try instaling your program again.

    hope this helps.

  12. ive never had that problem with norton b4 try relosading it again

  13. my computer was all messed up and showing p**n sites that were visited. so i completely cleaned my computer and got rid of all of my anti virus programs and it is working fine...dangerous but worth it.

  14. Do you have multi user licence? if the PC version is working and updating then you're not able to update the laptop version because you need a seperate serial number...

  15. get free avg anti virus software download it www.cnet.com

had it running on vista for 8 months now don;t pay for something you can get for free.and works.

  16. maybe your windows firewall is blocking it?  Go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall.  Click on the "Exceptions" tab and see if your Norton program is listed (and is "checked").  If it's not, click the Add option and manually add it to the list of exceptions (approved programs that can bypass your firewall).

  17. I would go back to Norton support and get them to remotely log on to your PC and fix it. I spent a few evenings getting it working on the phone to them too. Have you had a previous version of the software on the PC? I had problems and I had to download a special program from them to clear out all the previous versions and then re-install.

I have finally dumped Norton in favour of AVG which is a lot less intrusive and cheaper.

  18. Might not work, but check the date on your computer - it might be set to the wrong date and s******g up the date-tracking of the av software.

  19. That's because Norton can only detect viruses it can't remove or repair them Patch Adams.
