1. During a root enzyme experiment, Grace determined the dry weight of mustard roots so she could make some calculations. These were pretty small mustard plants so she had to use a good balance to get the data. She measured one set (A) of roots and obtained masses of 0.06, 0.09, 0.08, 0.05, and 0.05 grams. Another set (B) had masses of 0.1, 0.11, 0.09, 0.11, and 0.04 grams. Which set had the greatest average mass?

2. Shelby made an analysis of the hornfels in the local gneiss found at Buckthorn Butte. She analyzed the gneiss on three different occasions and obtained the three following sets of data for the percent hornfels in the gneiss: Set A = {5.4, 5.4, 5.2, 4.2, 4.1, 4.5, 5.1, 4.1, 4.1}, Set B = {5, 4.2, 4, 5, 3, 3, 5.2, 3.3, 4.5}, Set C = {5.5, 5.5, 4.6, 3.9, 3.4, 5.9, 4.5, 4.6, 3.9}. Which set of data had the greatest mode?

  1. 1. add up all of the masses in group A then devide that number by the number of masses in this case 5 that is your average do the same for group B also divide by 5 wich ever number is bigger that group has the biggest average mass

    2. Mode - The number or range of numbers in a set that occurs the most frequently.

this is simple look at all of the numbers and see which ones occure more than once, the set that has the mode of the greatest value is the one you're looking for

    good luck!

  2. I think the first is A, but didn't even read the seconde, to bored, srry.
