Can someone please help me. I'm looking to buy a "all mountain" snowboard with bindings and boots.

Can someone tell me a good set up that won't run me more than $400?

I'm 5'11 150lbs by the way if that matters

Thanks!

P.S. I am a novice snowboarder. Never owned a board.

  1. Go to a store and have them size you up and then tell them you'll be back and now you know the right size.

Then look on craigslist or kijiji or some other used website and I'm sure you could find something from someone who upgraded, board and bindings pretty cheap.

If you're buying used boots watch out that the linings aren't too squished/trashed.

  2. About a 155 would be the right size board unless your feet are larger than size 10 - 11, then you might need a "wide" board.

At that price point ($200 board, $100 binding, $100 boots), you are probably going to have to wait for closeouts and end of season clearances. I would suggest Ride and K2 boards - Burton boards of any quality are rarely priced that low.

Start looking at the local sport / board shops for last year's model boards looking for 3/4" setback and medium flex - you should be able to find one for around $200

    Good Luck

  3. I would go for a Burton Bullet- it is a nice all mountain, bottom line board, but it is still really nice. bindings- go for some burton missions, or cartels if you have the money. They are both great bindings, but to me it is worth it to pay the extra 30 or whatever it is to get the cartel. the cartel is much more durable than the mission, but it isn't going to make a huge difference to a novice. for boots, just find something lightweight, flexible, and comfortable; there isn't much to boots.

  4. 400 bucks is not really enough for all of that stuff if you are looking for a good set up. I would say save up a little bit more and buy burton freestyle boots, cartel bindings, and a nice board like a air or se7en
