Can someone please help me find a career i can start now?

Im 15 years old and live in new york city. acting seems cool, even singing but the problem is that im shy. does anyone know any websites where i can sign up for acting or singing. for example on disney channel

youre definitely not 15 if youre asking this question, especially about the disney channel, but ill humor you anyway.  look around the city, assuming mommy lets you go around town, and find flyers for casting calls and auditions.  trust me.  tehyre everywhere.  go to these and audition, and see where it gets you.

i vote you stay in school, get a degree, maybe go to an acting college, then try your hand at acting.

edit: okay well i'm gonna add that while disney channel is kind of unrealistic, it is possible.  the main reason that it's unrealistic would be that a. you're a little bit too old, they usually like to start young, and b. it seems like you don't have any connections.

Miley cyrus's father is a famous musician, Shia labeouf was already a budding comedian who happened to have an agent, and lindsay lohan had been in movies since she was like 8.  get the picture?

the place to start would almost definitely be with getting an acting agent.  or, if you want to sing, then you need to take lessons.  In this case you need to choose whether you want to write your own songs or sing someone elses.  When you decide, invest some money in time at a good recording studio with a good producer, maybe a friend who will do it for free.  then, you can have a demo to send out to record companies.  For background music, expect to get it for free from a music composer friend, because professional loops and samples from real hip hop producers etc can often cost upwards of 1000 dollars for a few seconds of a not so great track.  I heard that kanye spent somewhere in the 30k and up area for the Daft Punk sample for stronger, and Travis McCoy told me that he paid a little less than 10k for the sample on Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes.

p.s., i love hannah montana.  i know its kind of weird but an ex girlfriend of mine showed me her songs and i thought they were catchy.

edit: well they got demi when she was 15, though she was lucky, but they actually got miley when she was 13.  i dont know who selena is, but i'm talking about disney over the years.  yes i suppose these 3 were the most recent, but in the past disney USUALLY goes for younger, hillary duff was 13, lindsay lohan was like 10, etc.  i'm not saying its impossible, it's just not likely.  disney is a tough crowd, and they steal alot of money anyway.  miley cyrus makes probably upwards of 8 million dollars a year, but she only keeps about 3 million.  compare that to a band that girls of your age probably havent heard of called NOFX, who make  in total about 4 million a year and get to keep 3 million.

keep trying though sassygirl..heh..funny name...and just dedicate yourself.  there will be some sacrifice.

I live in NY but I don't know a lot about NY!!!!.. I don't like hanna montana!!! And if u wanna go to disney channel that's like LA!!!... U r in high school why don't u go to a school of acting and singing!!!... I really like to sing and everything!!! I am still in middle school!! My brother has a book that the school give out to let u know which high school is good etc!!!... I am going to a school of singing and acting!!! That's almost everybody dreams sing and act!!!... Try to go to a library and find a book where it tells u about high school of Bronx,Queens,Manhattan, Brooklyn!!!!thats act and sings!!!... And u have to practice everyday singing and acting!! That's what i do everyday I am shy 2!! Don't worry people would love u because u are shy!!!

I think Disney channel is a bit of a stretch for you. But i guess it is something to work towards. I think you should stay in school for now and take the acting and singing classes if you are very interested and maybe even take some private lessons if you haven't already. Build up your talent and try out at some auditions even if you don't make the part it is good experience to try out.

Hi sassygirl, its nice to know that teens are taking interest in music. First decide, you want to act or sing? You cant do both at the same time. I would recommend that you take vocal lessons from a good tutor in your area and also continue with your studies. You can then try getting into some reality show like american idol or find a music producer who will make a demo CD of your vocals. Then you can distribute the demo's in the industry and see if you can get some work out of it.

It gonna be hard to get into Disney. Becasue they take people who have connections or have lots of experience. You could start off with roles as extras and stuff. Try getting an agent and going to acting classes. Then from there keep trying acting and singing isn't osmething your gonna get over night. You see Miley,Selena,Demi,Jonas Brothers.But they never got there with out working hard for years. They kept grinding. Try and see if your really passonate about acting you will get far if you not then...you will probably choose somehting ealse. Good Luck! =)

Go down (or up, or across) to the Lincoln Center and walk into Julliard and ask. Sometimes you can be surprised by what's on offer.
