I posted this in PETS and so far have only received one answer. And that one was no help at all.

I found a new born baby mantis this morning at work. I caught some fruit flies and she ate about 3 or 4. I don't have any fruit flies at home. Will she be ok until I can bring some more home from work tomorrow afternoon? I have aphids, but can't use those due to pesticides. I would appreciate any help.

  1. A mantis will eat just about anything they can get their claws on and into their mouths. They even eat each other. Any small insects will do, but not spiders. Spiders can fight a mantis, enmesh it in spider silk, then possibly eat the mantis. Kind of dog eat dog don't you think?

Look up mantises in the internet, possibly wikkipedia for ideas.

  2. some flies a day should be plenty you have to remember that in the wild they wouldnt always get as much to eat as they wanted

  3. Here's an article: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...

3-4 fruit flies should be plenty of food for a baby for the day. Also, they need to drink, and you give them water by spraying a dew-like mist of water in the habitat.
