  1. I did a really fun experiment last year on Biomes.

    Each student was assigned a specific biome, for example, I was assigned the rainforest.

    Each student got a orange juice carton which had the side cut out, and then we had a fill it with certain mixtures of soils and sand. For example, the rainforest had 1 part sand to 2 parts soil. The desert had all sand, I believe. We then took different seeds, along with grass seeds, and planted them in our "biomes". We put plastic wrap over the biomes and watered them about every three days. The entire experiment took about 4 weeks, or maybe 5.

    Other experiments I did in biology were frog, worm, starfish, cow heart, and goat heart dissections.

  2. whatever experiment you choose, be sure to state

    the aim of the experiment;

    the materials, etc required;

    the method followed;

    observations & findings;

    inference & conclusion.

    you could even add some implications of the findings on other life forms or for other fields such as medicine...or for further research ...

    some ideas for experiments you could think & write about -

    * effect of light/darkness on plants - you can have 4 pots of same plant but vary the light (amount or intensity) given to each. [remember to have a control group] or keep the light constant & bring in plants from different environs...

    * if you have a pet, try to think of something concerning that animal/its behaviour that may have made you wonder.

    * fungal growth - factors involved. you can use different types of substrates [raw or cooked food, leather, paper, cloth, glass, styrofoam, ....] or taking any one kind of substrate, see the effect of different factors such as dampness, sunlight, closed/open environment, air-flow, refrigeration, etc. -- what causes fungus to grow first & fast....

    hope these help.

    i'm sure you'll come up with many of your own ...

    all the best
