  1. i'd get the cheapest gas if i were you.

  2. gas is gas so you should be fine.

  3. I use Arco gas almost exclusively and have NEVER in several hundred thousand miles of driving had ANY fuel related problems with any car.

My GMC truck had 200000 miles on it and was still running like new when I sold it. ALL on Arco gas.

    USE it without worry.

  4. Gasoline is gasoline. It all has to meet certain standards, and if you watch closely, you will see the same tanker truck go to different stations. No one has ever come up with any data that says one brand of fuel is better than the other. Get the cheapest you can.

  5. All gas comes from the same refineries.  The additives are different, but they really don't affect much.  Don't worry about brands, they are just marketing tools.  Just get the cheapest gas.

  6. Arco gasoline is owned by BP and with the troubles they've had in the US lately, I'm hard pressed to believe that they are producing a consistently quality product.

To answer the "gas is gas" theory, while it's true that gasoline is commonly sourced and can be distributed by the same company, that is not a testament to the quality of the product you purchase.  A discount retailer's product has the government minimum levels of detergency and oxygenate.  Top Tier retailers maintain high standards of quality for ALL grades of gasoline and have been endorsed by carmakers like Audi, BMW, Toyota and Honda.

Saying the same tankers deliver to different stations is like saying UPS delivers products for different companies.  DUH, of course they do, they're a carrier for hire, just like the trucking companies.  When a tanker pulls up to the rack, the driver cards in on his next load and the computer loads the gasoline and additive package specified for the customer.  Once the gasoline is on the truck, it's not the same anymore.

If you save 5 cents a gallon by purchasing discount gasoline and you drive 15K miles in a vehicle that gets 20 mpg, you land up saving $37.50 over the course of the year on questionable gasoline.  Considering how much you invested in your vehicle, spending under $40 a year for high quality fuel is a minor expense.
