It's the series finale of what had been.

Is it 'had' or 'has' that should be used? Thanks !!

    I am not sure it makes any sense right now.

    If you use "had," you're talking about the past.

    Examples:

    Back when I was a kid, I didn't understand what HAD happened to me.

    My girlfriend HAD been the most important thing in my life, until we broke up.

    If you use "has," you're talking more about the present.

    Examples:

    My room's a mess - I don't understand what HAS happened.

    My girlfriend HAS been the most important thing in my life - I love her so!

    So, in your poem, if you're talking about, say, a past relationship - you'd use "had."  If it's about, say, a current love - you should use "has."
