There are really bad fights everyday, our special ed teacher is supposedly having s*x with a student and they are investigating, people threaten me there all the time and bring knifes and guns. I want out! I want to go to a school were I can learn but also learn about God. I want to go to my church school and if I do I get a full scholorship to this Christain college. My parents keep telling me no though and im so depressed where I am at school. Im 16, so can't I drop out legally without there permission and chose where I go to school?

  1. Wow.  I'm sorry.  Have you told you're parents every little thing?  I am at a loss as to why they would keep you there.  Tell them that you're scared.  Tell them that you feel sad and lonely.  But, if you have to stay there, remember that God is with you wherever you go.  You will ALWAYS have Him with you.  Pray about it.  Pray for advice and courage.  I'm so sorry about your situation.  Do you think your parents would be more open to home schooling you?  Maybe ask about that.  I hope you find something!

EDIT:  Ooh! Ooh!  I know!  Sometimes schools offer the same classes online.  Maybe you would be able to do that?  Check into it.  "Great strength comes from faith in God."--Zechariah 12:5

  2. Spare yourself, forget God.

Just move to a better public school.

  3. Considering this IS the homeschooling section, have you considered homeschooling?  By your age, you could be predominantly self schooled.  Some of the things you described are exactly the things that were going on in my kids' school.  I don't blame you for not wanting to continue to go there.  We use a program called Sonlight.  It's really good especially if you really like literature. It's somewhat pricey, but we've found it to be well worth it.  Here's their link:

    http://www.sonlight.com/

It's a Christian program but that aspect of it is not overwhelming.  If homeschooling interests you, maybe you could do a little research and show your parents the sort of things that are available.  As to the social side of school...we've seen, first hand, the "wonderful" socialization that goes on in our local schools.  As long as drugs, pre-teen s*x, smoking, violence, bullying, assault, intimidation, harassment, profanity, exclusive cliques, popularity and peer pressure are considered social interaction, we, as a family, will pass.

  4. Teach yourself at home! As long as your parents are ok with your being home alone (both parents work?) and as long as you have self-discipline, there's no reason why you can't teach yourself.

I was home schooled through high school, and taught myself everything but science and Spanish, which I took at a co-op. I'm quite "socially adept" and "well adjusted."

Look into two things in your area:

    1) Home educators co-ops. You can often be home schooled but actually take all your classes outside of the home with co-operative groups of home schoolers.

    2) Dual Credit. Check into any junior colleges in the area. You can often enroll for a certain number of college courses for free as a high school junior or senior. You get course credit for college, and you're not at your high school!

    3) Talk to your parents some more. :)
