  1. to tell you the truth it all depends. a major is just what you are primarily going to college for, a minor is to give you a second option if you don't want to make a living in what you majored in. purpose of a double major? uh, i guess in case you want to do more than one thing, say you major in business obviously you want to run a biz, but maybe you also major in architecture, so you have your mind made up cuz you want to own an architectual firm as well as work out of it so you can make even more money in the future. i'm no expert but that's what i can make of it anyhow good luck. :)

  2. Your "major" is the subject you will be studying in depth, and related to the sort of work you want to eventually do when you graduate. You might be, for example, an English major or maybe a Business major. During your junior and senior year of college, you'd be taking mostly English or Business courses.

A double major is when you study two main subjects, usually with the goal of increasing your ability to get a job. For example, you might do a double major of Math AND Physics. It's a LOT more work-- more classes you need to take-- and could take you an extra year to graduate.

A minor is a second subject that you study in addition to your major. It can be something you're just interested in on the side, or something that adds another dimension to your major. The minor is not as deeply involved as a second major would be, only maybe 6 extra classes. You might be a History major with a Political Science minor, for example.

Personally, I want to be a freelance writer, so I will be a Media Writing major with a Business minor. Writing is my main thing, but I believe a basic understanding of Business will help me succeed as a freelancer. In my case, I've decided it's not worth it to major in Business as well, but someone else might feel differently.

None of these are any better than the others. It all depends on what your educational and career goals are. :)

  3. Too concentrate on just one thing can be called ignorance but to concentrate on more than one is less ignorance

  4. Double majors gives you exposure to a broader area of specialization. Empolyers prefer it b/c of abitility to manage multiple tasks

  5. You need an average of about 36 hours for a major and about 18 hours for a minor.  You would have to take an additional 18 hours or 2 x 36 for two majors.  Absolutely no reason to do it except that you really love to go to college.  It won't help you get a master's degree or a Ph.d.
