  1. SSA.GOV should have your answers. I think it depends on what program and how you got benefits. If you are elderly and collecting from a first marriage widowed you or you were married more than ten years you might be able to collect on the new husband instead.

SSA is the name of the agency are you on old age benefits or SSI or SSDI?

My cousin is on SSI but his wife is also disabled so they both collect while married. Yes disabled people can be too disabled to work but still able to be married so ignore the people who say if you can marry you can work.

  2. Didn't you just ask this question yesterday, the exact same way?

    It depends.

SSA isn't anything.  If you're on medicare because you're on SSDI, well, SSDI and Medicare aren't based on INCOME, so getting married, ie, increasing your household income, doesn't matter.

If you're on SSDI and Medicare because you were a disabled child, then getting married means you're not as disabled any more, and you get kicked off SSDI and Medicare.  Which is fair, as then your SPOUSE can provide for you, instead of ME paying your way.

  3. Call 800-MEDICARE and get the correct answer.
