  1. Please note,   plain English means English,  the question does not apply to hours of service in the United States.

  2. every 4 hours you should take a break. half an hour is the usuall time, wether this changes for bigger waggons im not sure. but thats what my boyfriend takes.

  3. Grey fox has nailed it for you. All I would add is that with a digital tacho card, if you are in a traffic jam, every time you roll forward, no matter if it is only a couple of seconds, you will lose two minutes of your driving time. This is an inherent fault with digital tachos, and everyone I know who has to endure one has had the same problem, so beware in traffic jams. I tend to leave a large gap grow before moving in such situations. Sure, it may annoy some people, but it keeps me on the right side of the laws.

  4. in simple terms as follows:

You can drive up to 4h30m without a break. That can be accumulated driving time or a straight drive. You must then take a 45 m break. You can then drive another 4h30m.If needed you can then take another 45m break and drive a further hour. That adds up to a10 hour driving day.You can only do that twice a week and no more. You must not work any longer than 15 hours in a day.

    now for the fun.

In your 4.30 you can take 2 breaks.Your first break must NOT be less than 15 mins and your second break no LESS than 30 mins.If you choose to work like this its easier to add 5 mins to ensure you have your breaks in.ie a 20 and a 35min break. You can drive NO MORE than 4h30m in any driving stint. And you cannot work for 6hours without a 30min break.

Be wary of the digital tacho as its a con machine. It adds your driving time to the next minute. That can mean that driving 4.30m15sec is read as 4h31m And THAT is an infringement and can mean you get a warning from your boss.

imho the digitach is an expensive con trick.
