  1. According to the Amstelveen site, the only trams that go there are the number 5 and 51.

    http://www.amstelveen.nl/web/show?id=168...

And on this (somewhat disjointed) route map it doesn't show any connecting tram traveling from the Brinkstraat stop (all the way to the right & down)

You might want to check out the GVB site, which is the agency that runs the tram & bus systems.

    Best of luck!

  2. I used to live in Diemen (which is next to Watergraafsmeer) and now close to Amstelveen so know both areas quite well.  If you look at the map you would imagine as they are close it would be easy and by car it's about 10-15 mins (without traffic jams)

However the connection by public transport between the two is not great.  The quickest is about 45 mins and it can take over an hour depending on which connections and which time you want to go

The best site to consult is http://www.9292ov.nl.  Here is gives you a door-to-door connection by public transport.

Just picking a couple of the connections at random leaving this morning, then you can see what I mean:

Leaving 07.09 arriving 08.03 at Amstleveen Centre

    a) Walk 16 mins to (street) Beukenhorst (in Diemen)

    b) Take bus 44 heading 'Station Bijlmer ArenA

    c) At Station Bijlmer ArenA then take bus 300 heading 'Harleem'

    d) At stop 'Oranjebaan' (Amstelveen) walk 6 mins to Amstelveen centre

    Leaving 07.14 arriving 08.16

    a) Walk 16 mins to 'Middenweg'

    b) Catch bus 15 heading 'Station Sloterdijk'

    c) At metro zuid, take sneltram 51 and get off at stop Amstelveen centrum

There are many options and different connections available, and it really does depend on what time you have to leave/arrive, plus if you would prefer less/more connections at the cost of less/more travel time.  Therefore it is best if you check the site yourself depending on your requirements.  Unfortunately it is only in Dutch, but if you are stuck then feel free to send me an Email.  You can also call them on then 0900-9292 number (when in NL)

I do know that a colleague used to cycle to work from Diemen to Amstelveen every day, so this is also maybe and option depending on if you like to cycle or not.  If not then car-sharing also with a colleague (if you are going to work there)
