  1. Money-

The more sanctioning bodies the more hands in the pockets of boxing money

  2. money. . . .I wish there was a better answer, but sadly, money is the only reason.

  3. I don't really know, but, I mean, if we only had one sanctioning body, that means a lot of great fighters would have to wait YEARS to get title shots, they wouldn't just be giving title fights to anyone like they do now. As long as we have sanctioning bodies, boxers share the spotlight, and have the ability to unify titles, and get their proper recognition, it sort of deconjests the boxing industry as a whole. Money is another reason, but there are way more sanctioning bodies than just the wbo, wbc, ibf, and so wbc, but those are recognized and the other ones aren't so, who really knows.

  4. The reason why there are so many is simple- money my man, money...  Every time a fighter fights for a title or defends a title, he must pay a sanctioning fee, even if it is for an "interim" title or a regional belt like the NABF or NABO titles.  The sanctioning bodies could care less about the good of the sport, all they care about is getting their sanctioning fees.  Thats why you will never see them work together- there is too much money to be made for them to have an any sort of alliance.  That is also the reason why there are all of these "interim", "super", and "regular" titles.  I remember a few months back in the cruiserweight division, there was an "interim regular champion" in the WBA- I know, it doesn't even sound right, but its true.  Thats why in 2002, the Ring Magazine came up with their championship policy to recognize the true and linear champions in each division- it attempts to bring boxing back to the days when there was only one champion per division and things just made more sense, and I applaud them for doing that.  With the Ring title, the only way that you can lose it is if, you lose it in a title fight, you move to another weight division permanently, or you retire- thats the way it USED to be and thats the way it SHOULD be.  There are no pointless mandatory challengers who have not done anything to deserve a shot at the title and there is no stripping fighters of their belts every other week like the sanctioning bodies do.  Thats why I only recognize the Ring beltholders as the true champions in each division, I recognize everyone else with world title as just that- a titleholder.

  5. They "Legitimatize" a Sport to People who are hung up on fancy "Titles..."- that mean NOTHING...  :(
