Can someone please tell me what guitar harmonics are? Please read details?

Ive been playing wanted dead or alive on my double neck guitar and the beggining starts with 3 harmonics. What exactly are these and please dont give me a long scientific definition i already read these, just basic. And how do you pick these with your pick?

place your finger lightly on the string directly above the fret.

Harmonics kind of sound like feedback if you play them with a bunch of distortion

Basically it's when the string vibrates in a certain way it makes a higher pitched noise.

There are a few way to play harmonics. If you want to make your guitar squeel you need to pick them differently

But for Dead Or Alive you just need to VERY SOFTLY lay your finger on top of the fret it tells you and then pick... The 12th and 5th frets are the easiest harmonics to get like this
