The WHOLE background? Sure, no problem.  Ancient man 1 (we'll call him Steve) had a nice arrowhead that Ancient man 2 (Tony) wanted.  Tony trades wildebeest leg for arrowhead.  First transaction known to man.

That's a long background that changed forms many times.  Modern thought evolved from the 17th century French Physiocrats that coined the term Laissez faire.  Was better defined by Adam Smith, Thomas Malthus, David Ricardo, and John Stuart Mill.   Drawn into question by Marx and answered by Alfred Marshal.  Finally topped off with some John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman, and John Nash.
