The only information I can locate about Mezo-American calenders' discoveries is about the Aztec calendar, which is merely a derivation of the Mayan calendar.

  1. Hi...

You'll find some pretty good info here about the Mayan calendar and lifestyle of the Mayans...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_calend...

You can also find our more about the Mayan civilization here:

The Mayan culture was absolutely astonishing when you start to read and research about it.

    Hope that helps. :)

  2. Probably by the guy that wrote it.2012!!!our new 2000!!It's gonna be sweet, the day after, laughing at allaya!!!

  3. By the Spanish.  A scientist called Constantine Rafinesque came across it and realized he had a calender lexicon which used lines and dots for digits and it was on a 260 day cycle which took in the moon and sun, not unlike the Jewish calender system.  It resembles two gears the turn to determine the date.  This 20 month system was more accurate that our calender.  A persons date of birth had enormous significance and would determine the course of the rest of (his) life.  This is a brief synopsis to a long piece of material.

  4. The Spaniards, who promptly wiped out the Mayans.

  5. Why does it matter who " discovered " it?

The Mayans came up with it, it matters not who found it, and claimed fame from finding something that was already there.

  6. Picking through ruins, is my guess.

Humans like to do this.  Dig for old bones and stuff and then make huge theories out of them.
