Can someone please tell me why there is a worm in some brands of tequlia..??

  1. There isn't - the 'worm' is found in bottles of Mezcal, not tequila. The worm is actually a type of caterpillar, and is usually preserved in alcohol before being added to the bottle to alter the flavour slightly - they are not supposed to be eaten.


  2. To see if us gringos would actually eat it.

    Technically it's a larvae found in mezcal (the parent liquor category for tequila, but it uses different types of agave). The larvae grows on and eats agave plants, so they stick it in the mezcal.
