Can someone pleasee answer thiss ?!!?!?

Question

so im starting field hockey on monday and i got a stick last night. it is a STX Wood Palm. there is a grey sticker thing on the back at the bottom of it, right where the ball hits the stick. is that suppose to stay on to protect the stick? or should i take it off? heres a picture of it..
