Can someone pls help on cattle dung?

Can someone pls suggest why the dung pats:

i) encourage the growth of tough grass

ii) r****d the cycling of nutrients such as nitrogen

1. The organic fertiliser provided by the dung makes tough grass grow faster.

2. The nitrogen provided by the dung, if in excess, makes the plants store it as nitrates in the plant tissue, which reduces their food value.
