Light rum: Barcardi

Dark rum: Meyer's, Gosling black, Banacourt

Spiced rum: Captian Morgan's (Every time i get a captain and coke it tastes like Vanilla coke which i can't stand, but some people love it.)

Whiskey: Crown Royal, Jack Daniels

Scotch is whiskey that is only made in Scottland:  Glennfidich

Bourbon is Whiskey only from the Bourbon county in

Kentucky: Maker's Mark or Jim Beam

Tequilla: Cabo Wabo or Partida...  I would also suggest Patron, or Jose Cuervo if u dont want to break the bank

Brandy:  Hennessey VSOP or Hennessey XO

I am a bartender this is our top shelf.  Gin=Tanguary, Scotch = Chivas Regal, Vodka=Gray Goose, Tequila=Patron Silver, Whiskey=Crown Royal "which is a blend" Brandy, I don't carry a top shelf, but I like a good Conque.
