I'm starting grade 12 in the fall, but I've already taken gr 12 physics at my school. I really LOVE physics A LOT. I plan to study it further in University, but next year I think I'm going to be depressed because I won't have any physics courses. I don't want to not do physics for a year before University, so if someone could recommend a good physics book that would introduce me to some new concepts I'd be a happy camper. My class ended with the photoelectric effect, relativity, and we touched on string theory. Perhaphs something that would give me a bit of a headstart for what I would expect in a first year university physics course, that would be splendid!

p.s. I really enjoy celestial mechanics, cosmology, and astrophysics, so maybe somethings with those too if possible?

  1. First year physics at the university level for possible physics majors is calculus-based.  So hopefully you've taken some advanced math courses if you want to study it.  I recommend the introductory physics books by Halliday & Resnick, Serway, or Knight.  These are the most commonly-used intro text books for first year university physics.  If you can get one of them from a local library and work your way through it, you'll be in a good position to start university physics.
