I understand that there are Dogs and Cats that are used for therapeutic reasons. I was hoping someone can recommend a breed of Cat that would be suitable for this kind of thing. Have an elder mother, that would benifit from this.

  1. All animals can be therapeutic for seniors. My cat is the best companion since I lost husband 10 years ago. The animal has to bond with the owner. Take your mom to Humane shelter or pet store and let her pick it out. Any breed will do, it's in the bonding of the two.

  2. A well behaved rescue adult cat would be best.  Kittens aren't the best for therapy simply because they are too rambunctious.  Petting animals is a proven way to lower blood pressure and stress.

  3. an adult cat from a rescue organization will take the guess right out of "which cat is best?" The people that foster these animals know them well because they live with them.

  4. I would just try to get breed of cat she likes; or has fond

    memories of

  5. a cat from the humane society that is already fixed, grown and housebroken with good social skills will be wonderful.

  6. Ragdoll cats are supposed to be quiet and sweet.  and very cute. : )
