Can someone recommend a nice but inexpensive 3-4 day cruise in Mexico or the Bahamas?

I really need to do a low-key vacation--can someone recommend a cruise line that isn't super expensive (but I'd rather pay more than be stuck on a run-down boat full of trashy people), is quiet (so no loud drunk people running around), and that I could do over a three/four day weekend? Thanks all.

  1. Both Carnival Fascination and RCI Majesty of the Seas offer good 3-4 day cruises.

In general, weekday 4-day cruises will have a more mature audience than a weekend 3-day cruise (i.e., less drunk running around).

If you do choose a weekend cruise, RCI will be more sedate than Carnival.  Hope that helps!

  2. check out carnival. they have lots  of choices and as far as i am concerned you can not beat the price for what you get and what you see.

  3. A few things to keep in mind.  The only cruise lines that have 3-4 day cruises are RCCL and CCL.  Both lines use their older smaller ships for the short cruises.  The shorter cruises tend to be the more party oriented cruises, however if you go while school is in session, it will be much more sedate then when there are kids / collage agers running around. For 3-4 days you are limited to a  bahamas / private island / key west cruise or a Cozumel cruise. If you do the bahamas, I would suggest trying to get to Nassau and the private island rather than freeport / key west.  In my opinion, CCLs private island is better than RCCLs private island.  If you can go 5 days, you an check out the Nassau, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk itinerly that Carnival offers on one of their Fantasy Class ships.  If you are a beach / water person, this is a fantastic cruise.  The Fantasy class / Sovereign class ships that run the short cruises are about the same size and equal as far as food quality, service etc go.  There are 2 advantages to CCL for the short cruises however, 1 is that the statrooms are much larger.  The Fantasy class ship's staterooms are 185sq ft,  The Sovereign class ships staterooms are about 120sq ft.  Also, on the 3 day cruises,  the Fantasy class ships hit their private island as well as one of the Bahama islands.  On RCCL, a 3 day cruise only has 1 port stop, you need a 4 day cruise to hit Coco Cay. Another option is a 4 day cruise out of Mobile or New Orleans.  The Holiday has 4 day cruises to Cozumel, however the Holiday is the oldest and smallest ship, from your question, I doubt you would be real happy on it.  I believe that one of the Fantasy class ships does a 4 day out of New Orleans to Coz.
