Can someone recommend an open air market to visit in Rome?

My folks would like to experience the scene of an open air market in Rome. I would like to know if there is one or more that you can recommend that is not too "touristy" with displays of authentic foods, produce, meat, etc. I've seen some websites that list some, but would like to get the opinion of those in the know... Thanks!

  2. Go to Piazza Campo dei Fiori (only in th morning) is near piazza Navona. is an authentic italian market with Italian food.

    Piazza Vittorio is a great market but is not open air and there's food from all over the world .

  3. There are several  in Rome... Non touristy, well, that could be a problem. There are street markets weekly in the towns around Rome as well.

    Piazza Vittorio - food market with a mesmerizing array of fresh foods, fruits, fish and meat, run by people from all over the world.

    Campo d'Fiore - is the most charming and well known. 6am-1:30pm Closed on Sunday

    Piazza Testaccio

    from fresh fruits and vegetables, to bottled jams and honey, to shoes and underwear, jewelry and housewares. The market spills out to the surrounding streets where merchants set up tables selling a wide and unpredictable variety of goods.

    sorry i got excited i used to live on the campo. the only open air market left in rome open everyday of the week.
