Can someone recommend to me some books, according to those that I have read?

My favorite books are :

Watership Down by Richard Adams (Fantasy)

The Never Ending Story by Michael Ende (Fantasy)

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë (Romance/thriller.. I think)

I like romance alot in a book, but only if there is something else (like horror), and its not all cheesy. Or if something is keeping two people apart. I like the notebook movie and I am thinking of reading the novel.

I love when a book makes me cry!

I don't really like comedy much- but I don't like completely depressing books.

I like fantasy and horror- but not like gross bloody stuff. I don't like crime mysteries much.

I don't like all description for a book, some speech is good! Right now I am reading Gulliver's Travels by Jonothan Swift. Which I like, but there is no speech -___-;;

I have read pride and prejudice, which was okay- it was a very good story, but because of the really old writing it took me ages lol xD

What books do you think I'd like? Or what are ur faves?

  1. Try Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.  I enjoy the same type books as you and I am almost done with it now--I love it!

Also, I would highly suggest The Notebook.  It has been one of my favorites since it was published.  I love the movie, but find the book to be better.  Try to push the movie out of your mind though, cause it doesn't follow exactly.

This might seem like it doesn't fit with your type of books, but I recommend Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment.  There is romance, but it is overshadowed by a lot of other stuff.  It is my favorite book of all time (I have read it 6 times) and I suggest it to everyone!

Also, Mulright Island by Morgan B. Wills.  It is unreal.  This man is not the best writer in the world (not any huge mistakes or stuff like that, just general little things that are common of a first time author such as himself), but he is a GREAT storyteller.  There is romance, action, fantasy, human emotion--all in all a great book.  It is out of print, so finding a new one is super hard (the only ones in existence are with Morgan, being signed and sold for like $90), but you can find a good quality used one here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0...

I really do recommend this book--it is worth the price, which is really low.  To be honest, I only started to read it because Morgan is a personal friend of mine, but about a third of the way into it, i was so involved in the characters and story that I had totally forgotten that he even wrote it!  If you want any more description  on it, shoot me an email from my profile and I will send it to you (my message is already getting super long so I don't want to add it here).

    Other suggestions:

    Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

East of Eden by John Steinbeck

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

The Host by Stephenie Meyer (I liked the Twilight Saga, but think this is better!)

    Emma by Jane Austen

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

    Empire by Orson Scott Card

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg

The Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc by Loraine Despres

    Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Ok...I ran out of time.  I hope this helps!

  2. Just off the top of my head; The Count of Monte Christo

       Somewhere In Time

read all of Jane Austen's books

Cold Mountain is a great one(I don't think it's too racy)

Honestly, the ones that have passed the test of time are best.

  3. ... Your two questions were:

...1. Can someone recommend to me some books, according to those that I have read?

...2. What books do you think I'd like? Or what are ur faves?

...And the answer is...Those you listed, of course!

  4. to kill a mockingbird- not exactly romantic but good!

witch of blackbird pond- totally easy to read. it wont take you long to read, kinda romantic

  5. Have you tried Little Women? I think you might enjoy it.

  6. chasing the dead by joe schreiber was scary

love walked in by  marisa de los santos--awesome book

    you might like those

  7. You might enjoy The Princess Bride by William Goldman though it does have a fair amount of comedy.

  8. http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com/searc...

  9. If you like fantasy and things that make you cry then you should read the Twilight series!

  10. Check out the Chronicles of Narnia. Or Lord of the Rings. LOTR has a little more romance in it, and both of them made me cry.

  11. Pride and Prejudice has to be read with an ear for tone and voice... Jane Austen is really quite bitingly funny.

Anyway, I think you would like Mary Stewart's work a lot.  She's an older author, so you'll probably be able to find some of her stuff in a used book store.  She writes mystery, romance, and fantasy, sometimes all in the same book.

She's most well known, I think, for her series about Arthur and Merlin but I haven't read those.  Touch Not The Cat is an excellent fantasy/romance/mystery.  She's just an amazing author, and yeah, she can make you cry.

Terry Pratchett is amazing.  If you read any of his stuff though, start with the newer books and then go back.  His first DiscWorld novels are really nowhere near as good as the rest of them, and it's really interesting to read them after you've already fallen in love with all the characters.  And they're still good, just not as good as the rest.

He writes Fantasy with a satiric twist.  It's funny, it's original.  Go with Thief of Time or The Truth to start with, maybe... Though Small Gods is excellent as well.  They're all excellent.  =)

Who else... Agatha Christie is a classic.  Most of her novels have a couple get together at the end, and it's just really first-rate mystery.  Try The Secret Adversary.

    Dorothy Gilman is great too.

Diane Duane has some really good Fantasy books.  The first is called So You Want To Be A Wizard.

Then, with a totally different vein of Fantasy, there's always Tamora Pierce, a classic Fantasy standby.  If you don't like her Allanna, Wildmage, or Keeper of the Small books then try her Circle of Magic books.  I like all of them, myself, but the Circle of Magic books have a decidedly different flavor.

I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head.  Scandalous!  There are so many other good authors... oh well.  Try any or all of these, they're all wonderful.

    Happy reading.  =)

    Thought of some more:

HARRY POTTER.  I know, I know, everyone rolls their eyes, but there is a reason why it has such a big following!  And the movies are c**p.  DO NOT judge it by the movies.

If you're up for a challenge, Les Miserables is excellent.  Romantic, adventurous, suspenseful, excellent.  And REALLY FLIPPIN' LONG.  But worth it.

Princess Bride is good too - I second whoever said it before.  But make sure you read the book before you see the movie, if possible. William Goldman, I believe.

As you like Emily Bronte, I don't know if you'd like Austen - Bronte's very wild and naturey, Austen's very drawing-room.  But if you do end up reading Austen, don't take what she says at face value.  She has a sharp tongue and intellect, and she makes fun of everyone.  Her tone is almost always ironic.  One of my favorite lines is after Mr. Bennet talks to Mary and says something about how smart she is, "Mary wished to say something very clever, but knew not how." She's subtle.

Pride and Prejudice is a book that should be read twice to be fully experienced.  If you get lost in the language, see the movies.

BUT if you see the movies - Watch the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice with Collin Firth, NOT the Keira Knightley version, it's totally untrue to the book!

As for movies, Emma and Sense and Sensibility are a couple excellent Jane Austen movies that will make you laugh and cry too.

Personally, I love Lewis Carroll, and NO, he was not high when he wrote Alice in Wonderland - it was a story he told to his friend's daughters.  One was named Alice Liddell.

The Alice books are very good, but I love his poetry most of all.  Read The Hunting of the Snark.

Okay, I'm sure you have more than enough suggestions now.  Happy hunting!
