I've been reading many things on it and I still feel clueless as to what's happening. What is Russia's goal in Georgia? We already know the U.S. comdemns it but what does the U.N. and NATO feel about it?

If you can answer those questions, mabye give some more vital info and a reliable newsource, one that isn't biased like most American media, then please share it.

  1. Check the link below. It is a collection of questions and answers on the situation.

  2. Georgia was a soviet satellite. when the USSR broke up, Georgia became an independent nation, but the breakaway provinces wanted to be sovereign from Georgia. the ever-resourceful and eager-to-hurt-the-US Russian government realized this and is backing rebels in the breakaway province. to do this, Russia is using the excuse that it is protecting its citizens in the area.

Georgia is a major US ally in the middle-east (i guess you can consider this area the middle east). think of it as payback from when the US recognized Kosovo (a breakaway province of Russia's ally Serbia) as a sovereign state.

Russia, however, will not stop until Georgia is no more. no matter how long that takes.

  3. georgia is a small country in asia i'm sure you now that. well this small country has a ethnic group called the Ossetians. this ethnic group lives in northern georgia near the russian border. the ossetians in the north broke away from georgia in 1991 in which case started a similar war. i don't know what started this one but georgia and ossetia

began fighting. russia invaded claiming to be protecting russian citizens in south ossetia and claiming to keep the peace. in reality they are doing most of the fighting.

the us condemns the war nato hasent really taken action yet and the un plans on sending peacekeepers

  4. Georgia broke from the Soviet Union after the cold war and have been a sovereign nation for a while. For some reason, they wanted to expand land and tryed to take south ossetia from the russians since georgia and russia were fighting. Russia didnt appreciate it and bombed the h**l out of georgia and now there a war between the two nations.

  5. try readin some german media, it has a different look on the situation

american and british media has it all the same..

oh except of tht thing tht some of the birttish press admitted it was actually georgia to blame in the conflict to start, now tht is shockin isnt it? :)

edit: lol u know all these experts in the situation are even more hilarious than the person askin if russians invaded the georgia state :) ur being so naive

  6. Nobody knows Russia's end plan.  Georgia keeps claiming it's willing to do whatever Russia demands for a cease fire, but Russia keeps escalating and claiming they don't recognize Georgian efforts.

They do say they control the region, which would mean they've achieved their stated goal.

Only a fool believes that's all they want though.

  7. There is no reason for Russia to start war with Georgia.

    US has reason.

Who helps Georgia with its army ?

Do you really think that small Georgia start this war without Big Brother ?

But after 2000 killed citizens in South Ossetia, it is not a good idea to help Saakashvilly.....

  8. I'm kinda in the dark like you, but I did pick up a little info on it today in the news.

Russia is fighting over an area of land that I can't remember the name of, but it's a highly fought over region like the Allemagne (or however you spell it) region in France was.

The US condemns it, as does the UN. The US was leading the charge at the UN to try an get Russia to pull out. Not sure what NATO is doing about it.
