Can someone still get a VA loan without a down payment even though there is a mortgage crisis?

It depends on your current credit. Loan officers will tell you that you are entitled to a VA loan, but they do not tell you that it is still based on credit. My husband came home from Iraq and we picked out our first home. We were told we were all set with the VA loan, paid for the appraiser and building inspection only to find out our credit wasn't good enough. We lost the house and $1500 we had already paid out of pocket for the realestate agent/appraisal/inspection. Be carefull with what they promise you.
