Me and some girlfriends are all set to enjoy four days on the beach and I would like to supply a good dessert wine that will "wow" them.

  1. Reisling is a good dessert wine.  (my favorite)

Brand name/vineyard doesn't seem to matter much.  Never had a Reisling I didn't like !

For an inexpensive fun dessert wine - Asti Spumonti.  Tastes like Champagne, and you have the fun of "popping" the cork, the way you do with Champagne.

  2. In terms of sweeter wines, i like a riesling.  One of my favorites is Blue Nun Riesling, it's in a tall blue bottle.   I think it's just in the white wine section on the shelves.  Or Lambrusco has good dessert wines, either the red or pink labels.  I believe that is on the dessert wine shelf.

  3. If you want to "wow" someone with dessert wine, pickup a bottle of "Six Grapes", It is a port wine that will knock your socks off (and doesn't cost that much, maybe $25/bottle). I respectfully disagree with previous posters that riesling is a good dessert wine. Go for the Port, maybe match it with some dark chocolate...delicious. Here are a few tidbits: Port is usually served in smaller quantities than table wine due to the higher alcohol content (17.5 and above), so this means more of your beach buddies can enjoy for the same price. In addition, you can "wow" your friends with your wine knowledge. There are six types of grapes used for making port and guess what? Six Grapes port includes all of them!
