  1. Try making a crystal garden.

Make a saturated solution of sodium silicate in water, or mix a quantity of water-glass with twice as much water. Pour the solution into a tank or a large jar, cover the bottom with a layer of sand, and drop in some coloured crystals, such as iron(III) sulphate, copper(II) sulphate, manganese(II) sulphate, cobalt chloride and magnesium sulphate. Leave them for a while, and they will start to grow into bush-like structures. Once the growths stop, leave for a day, then carefully siphon off the solution and replace by clean water.

The crystals will start to dissolve, but most silicates are insoluble, so they deposit and form solid structures with the colours of the original chemicals. Do some research on crystal shapes (Wikipedia is actually great for the basics), on colours of chemicals (e.g. what causes the blue colour in copper sulphate), and on the reactions taking place.

Everyone will be amazed at the results.

  2. make this science project cardboard box 2-string upright bass, and all of your wildest dreams will come true.

  3. make a model on the process of nuclear fission in which a single bigger nucleus divides to form two daugther nuclei and so on.

YOU CAN USE THERMOCOL BALLS, CLAY ETC. TO SHOW THE NUCLEI.

MODEL ON ACTION OF SOAP ON DIRT IS ALSO A GOOD CHOICE.
