  1. Well I will try to help, I am a former chef and now follow a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet for health reasons, and the term can mean variuos things, once emat is cut from the bone they can eat have machines scrape the meat, water pressure to sandblast the meat of the bones mainly.

By product are those items not common to the regular meat processing to, like dried meat or powder meats for use in soups, sauce and powdered soup bases, in things like snack food were it has been dehydrated, cooked and mix with a plant protein for flavouring for chips and other foods.

So it is mainly the residue of the meatprocessing process, and hot dogs are not done that way, most people have been lead to believe they are the scrap and anything left around after they clean up, untrue, the meat is inspected in the US and Canada and must be wholesome and fit for consumption, sure they will used the mechanically or other removed meats for they are better suited for this, the meat for hot dogs and bologna is mixed into what is term an emulsifcation, were the meat, breadcrumbs, flavours and preservatives are mixed into a mash and the processed into those products.

  2. GELATIN - used in jello, candy

TALLOW - Not sure what it is but its a by product.

RENNET an enzyme used to coagulate cheese. It comes from from calves' stomachs. Most cheeses in the UK specify that they are suitable for vegetarians meaning that they use a plant derived rennet but here in Oz I have to hunt around and read the ingredients on the back of cheese before I buy it to see if it specifies that it is non-animal rennet.

    Leather - Clothing, furniture

    Suede - Clothing, furniture

Bone - Used in things like bone china, fertiliser and I believe that  bone char is used to refine sugar also.

Blood - Blood (and bone) often from mascerated baby chicks is often used in fertiliser.

  3. Jello, Marshmallows, and many gummy candies, yogurts, and sour creams contain GELATIN which vegetarians should avoid.

LARD is a common ingredient in refried beans, so ask or look at the ingredients and get whole black beans as a substitute.  It can also be found in some tortillas, breads, and baked goods.

TALLOW or animal fat or sodium tallowate can be found in some soaps, so it's best to avoid these, but many vegetarians still use them.

RENNET is an enzyme that is used to coagulate cheese.  Many cheese manufacturers get rennet from calves' stomachs.  A vegetarian alternative would be a cheese that contains rennet from synthetic sources.  Here is a vegetarian cheese website: http://cheese.joyousliving.com/
