Can someone tell me about going into the career field of "orthodontists"?

Question

When people use to ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up I always told them that I wanted to be a teacher, but now that I'm older, I've lost interest in the career.

When I went to the orthodontist the other day, I thought that It seemed like a fulfilling career to get into.

I'm hoping someone with experience or alot of knowledge can tell me a little about the job.

I'd like to know about the pay, the perks, the amount of schooling, everything.

Help is well appreciated and ten points for best answer.

After  becoming  a  dentist  you  can  apply  for  post  graduate   studies   for  orthodontics .

The  total  time  of  your  BS  plus  dentist  degree  plus  ortho  will  be  just  over  10  years .

They  are  self  employed  so  your  income  is  whatever  you  can  generate  from  customers  after  the  expense  of  operating  the  office .

orthodontists are mean evil people hated by children everywhere!!!!!  Just kidding.  But, if I were you, I&#039;d take that into consideration.  Kids really don&#039;t like their orthodontist and I would HATE doing anything that kids would despise!
