Can someone tell me about how cows take care of their calves when they are free?

I have been wondering if it is right to drink cows milk as the milk should actually be for the calf.

Most of the time depending on what the s*x of the calf is depends on how long the calf is on the mothers milk and what the farmer is going to do with the calf. Most of the time the calf is left on the mother 2 or 3 days if it is going to be a show calf if it is a calf that is going to market it may be left on the mothers milk for a couple of weeks especially if the mother is producing to much milk a situation of this would be is she had twins and was producing milk for both but one died and was not drinking the milk. there is no need to worry that your drinking milk the calf should be getting because the farmer wont start running the cow through the milk parlor untill the calf is ready to start a milk replacer and eat hay and graina and drink water.
